The department of Philosophical ethics and political philosophy contains the two groups 'Ethics and cultural philosophy' and 'Social and political philosophy'. Research and teaching are done in close cooperation. The research of the department is housed in the Radboud Center for Philosophy and Society.
Compared to other disciplines in the field, philosophical ethics and political philosophy have traditionally focused most strongly on the problems and challenges of the social and political environment, in which philosophy is practiced. The authoritative texts - from Aristotle to Rawls and Habermas - are connected in Nijmegen with current ethical and political issues.
