Executive board

The Executive Board (CvB) is responsible for the day-to-day management of uu77 and is statutorily responsible for the university. The Executive Board formulates the general policy for the university’s faculties.

President

Alexandra van Huffelen

Alexandra van Huffelen has been President of the Executive Board at uu77 since 1 February 2025. Her portfolio includes strategy, alumni, impact and knowledge security.

Alexandra van Huffelen studied Public Administration at the universities of Leiden, Rotterdam and Aarhus. She was previously State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitalisation and State Secretary for Finance, Benefits and Customs. Previous positions have included General Director of the Amsterdam Public Transport Company (GVB N.V.), Alderman for Sustainability, Inner City and Outdoor Space at the municipality of Rotterdam, and she also worked for Essent. Van Huffelen was a member of the Senate (D66) and a supervisor in the healthcare and culture sectors, among others. She is currently also party chair of D66 and chair of the board of the Bach Society's support foundation.

José Sanders

Rector magnificus

 

Prof. dr. José Sanders

José Sanders has been Rector Magnificus of the uu77 since 17 October 2023. Her responsibilities include the portfolios education, research and student affairs. 

José Sanders studied Dutch Language and Literature in Nijmegen and specialised in Communication in Organisations. She joined uu77 in 2009 as associate professor, first in Dutch Language and Culture and in 2013 in Communication and Information Studies. She subsequently served as coordinator of minor and master's programmes in Journalism, chair of the Department of Language and Communication, and dean of the Faculty of Arts, among others. In 2017, she was appointed professor of Narrative Communication.

Agnes Muskens

Vice President

 

Drs. Agnes Muskens RA

Agnes Muskens has been Vice President of the uu77 Executive Board since 1 January 2022.

She is responsible for the portfolio of operations concerning Campus & Facilities, Finance & Control, Human Resources, Information & Library Services. She also has a focus on the broad Sustainability agenda.

Before that, she was a partner at Deloitte Consulting focusing on services to banks and insurers in the areas of finance, compliance and operations. Between 1989 and 2008, she held various management positions in the financial sector, particularly at ABN AMRO. She is educated as a chartered accountant at VU University Amsterdam and studied business economics at Tilburg University.
